Kiln Formed Art Glass - One of a Kind ~

Chinese Glass Masks - Limited Series

In the Chinese culture of art, bold and bright colors are often used. This works well with the colors that the sheet glass manufacturers offer for the fused glass artist. Each mask represents a part of the ancient Chinese heritage. A great amount of time and preparation goes into the designing of these masks. After the design layout, the cutting process involves over 100 hours of cutting, stacking, and placing in a kiln for each mask. It is then fired and annealed for 12 to 24 hours depending on the thickness of each piece. Once the piece has cooled off a second firing is necessary to bend over a clay mold. At this time the gold enamel is applied for detail.
